Kalaw-Ledesma Foundation, Inc. (KLFI) was founded by art patron and Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) founder Purita Kalaw-Ledesma (b. 1948 d. 2005). Originally conceived as an arts-focused organization, KLFI’s precursor was the Kalaw-Ledesma Art Foundation, founded on 15 September 1978. Its activities included the publication of art books, support for the development of art exhibitions and art criticism, professorial chairs, to name only a few.
(Consider including a photo of PKL signing a professorial chair endowment for CFA-see photo in The Life and Times/ and/or cover of Art Criticism in the 1990s–as a sample publication of KLF)
Registered under the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines, KLFI was formally established on 15 September 1995. Its purpose is to “enhance and advance the well-being of the members of society through the promotion of: Philippine art and culture; educational activities; religious, charitable, and social work; recreational and sports activities; physical and mental health of the society; protection of the environment and sanitation awareness.” These objectives offer a more holistic perspective on the development of the human agent.
The focus of KLFI’s programs in recent years (2016-2022) has been on the promotion of Philippine art and culture as well as educational activities. It is inspired by the biography, philosophy, and legacy of Purita Kalaw-Ledesma. It carries out its programs onsite at the Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Center in Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines; as well as virtually through its official website and social media platforms.
